Performance Measurement Builder

Purpose:

The PM Builder is an interactive tool that National Service Programs can use to develop a set of aligned performance measures. A series of drop-down menus allows programs to build a performance measurement plan that can be modified to fit the program's unique characteristics.

How to Use the PM Builder:

  1. Indicate whether you are an AmeriCorps or Senior Corps program.
  2. Identify the Issue Area that matches the type of service you plan to provide.
  3. Select an activity type that best describes your service activity.
  4. Choose the output and outcome you hope to achieve by the end of the program year.
  5. Choose the indicator, data source, and instrument type* you plan to use for data collection.
  6. Click Go and Build My PM Plan! Your drop-down menu selections will appear in a Word document.
  7. Save the Performance Measurement Plan to your computer and revise as needed.**

    * Some performance measurement plans include instrument templates.
** Many components of the performance measurement plan will require enhancements and additional information to complete the plan (e.g. target) specific for your program.

Navigating the PM Builder:

Sometimes there is only one option available for a component in the PM Builder. In that case, it will automatically select that option and move to the next component.

The PM Builder does not allow you to change a component once it is selected. To make corrections, click “Start Over” and begin a new plan.
